The Essence of The Creative Brain

There are brains and then, there are creative brains.

The creative brain lives on an island all its own. It relies on its host for touch, smell, sight, and hearing, but that is the extent of its need.

It has an energy that permeates from the inside out. It is truly alive in a way that the rest of the body it inhabits could never fully understand.

The creative brain moves at a speed that cannot be realized in human numbers.

It travels to places that it has visited, along with lands that don’t exist outside of itself.

Colors in the creative brain are beyond the spectrum of description. They mold and move, creating new hues, shades, tints, and tones, that have not yet been experienced on the outside.

The creative brain is animated. A constant flow of movement.

It creates and destroys.

It can be stimulated by the actions of its host, but can also find satisfaction in just hanging out with itself.

The creative brain doesn’t need friends to survive. It is its own friend. Never truly alone.

There is direction and no direction. That can be good and that can not be good.

Up is down, down is also up and sideways brings its own sense of noise.

Sound is unique in the creative brain. The volume has a filter on it. Not loud, not soft. Just sound.

This brain remembers but has no true management system. It glides from one room to the next. Some have doors that allow it to go in and out and others with open ceilings that slide upwards. Then, some are made of varying shapes that change formation and structure by the moment.

It is a grand place to visit. Always welcoming. Always glad to perform.

The creative brain has but one flaw.

It has a difficult time shutting down.

It fights against itself. Willing itself to stop doesn’t work. Actually the opposite occurs. It revs up. Kicking up the sand and adding wind to the storm.

Those who have a creative brain and have mastered the stop button, are the true geniuses.

When I don’t know what to say out loud, I write. I was born a storyteller. Without stories, we disappear into the fog of life — with stories, we thrive.
